Remembrance Day

I've always been fascinated by history in the way that someone can be fascinated by something they can barely comprehend. The World Wars of the most recent Century have intrigued me most of all because of the changes they brought about in Britain and around the World. After World War I things changed forever, and Britain after World War II was forever and irrevocably different.

My Great Granddad was in the trenches during WWI, apparently he never spoke of the experience, like so many others who experiences the same horrors. This article in The Times paints a vivid picture of what it was like for those who were left behind after the Great War. How they struggled with mourning for bodies they would never see again, how they remained silent, never speaking of their loss and pain.

This article is eye opening and an important record of people who are no longer around to tell their stories first hand. Yesterday was Remembrance day in the UK. We will never forget.
